Lets face facts, most jobs can be taught to anyone with a solid work ethic, a willingness to learn and good general skills. So if a position is vacated in your business, why not draw from within, train and create a very loyal and devoted employee in a trusted position who will go the extra mile for you as you did for him or her irrespective of their current job position.
I have seen this applied to positions that the person is absolutely untrained and inexperienced for but when one has an employee with good basic skills a good attitude and a strong sense of loyalty to the company, develop this person into a superstar and everyone receives the benefits. The company is better, the person is better and the rest of the employee base watches and thinks well of the boss, the company and their own possible opportunity to advance from within.
I am a firm believer in training. You can train anyone to do anything if they posses the right God given skills. So really we are simply looking for a responsible, competent and clear thinking person who has a good work ethic, find that person and make him or her an employee and find a place to fit the person in, as business is built around people not visa versa.
Thus if you have a person on board already demonstrating these qualities, develop the person into a better job position, better for the company better for everyone. Make it a rule, hire from within…expand from within…train and develop the expertise required to staff your jobs appropriately. Create office managers out of staff, create a production manager out of production workers, create sales people out of production workers, and on it goes. Its called a career path and it is hugely important and will keep employees interested for a long while as they climb the ladder of success within your organization.
Pull from within develop from within, add to the bottom and let everyone work there way to the top.
It will cost less, take less time to develop and its a reward system that cannot be beaten. Hire from outside, use inside employees to train and you have a built in problem.
Try it, develop from within… it inspiresĀ terrific moral, loyalty and success, it works. Call me if you need some help. 413-549-2966.
