I have come across a most excellent resource, a  free detailed guide on how to draft an effective business plan. I have provided the link for you to access and receive this guide at no cost (see below). Get it, it is extremely good and will serve you well.

Many entrepreneurs resist writing a business plan alleging that they will change it and develop it along the way so whats the point. Especially if they are not using it to raise capital to fund the program were a plan may be required, and if not required they would just as soon use the back of the envelope plan they worked out over dinner.

Not a good idea. Writing an effective business plan is a necessary requirement for any successful business endeavor as it forces you to consider many issues which if you did not write a plan you may not consider them at all. A plan can be changed, they all usually are, many times, but this does not diminish the value of starting from the beginning with a plan in hand, a base starting point and develop from there.

Its a valuable exercise that will offer you much insight into what you are doing and how to accomplish it successfully. Do it. Its hard work but worth it. In fact after writing it, one shouldperiodicly review it to see if you are either following it appropriately or changing paths based on reasonable analysis and consideration. The plan is a map, subject to new roads and new directions but its still a map and a very valuable resource.
